Julien Sergent, now a printer at Hanova, has followed a rich and atypical path. After taking a vocational baccalaureate in electrical engineering, he realised that the job market wasn’t quite ready for him in this field. So he spent two years working as a temp in industry before moving to Bridgestone Béthune in 2008. There, he climbed the ladder with the tenacity of a mountain climber, going from temporary operator to permanent vulcaniser, while managing up to 11 machines. It wasn’t all plain sailing, but it was a rewarding experience. When the site closed in 2020, Julien didn’t give up.

In 2021, he joined Hanova and embarked on a new career as a printer. Today, he is in charge of printing film reels, juggling meticulous adjustments, first-level maintenance and meeting customer requirements. And for Julien, the tidier the better! While the long adjustments can sometimes be frustrating, he is happy with the precision and organisation that his work demands.

With no initial training in printing, he benefited from the invaluable advice of Joël, an experienced colleague who has now retired. (Thank you, Joël) Intergenerational transmission? At Hanova, learning is encouraged. ‘Here, everything is done to ensure that we develop in a humane and respectful environment’.

In December 2023, he added a new string to his bow by becoming a CSE representative. It’s a role that allows him to take on more responsibilities while continuing to develop his skills. For Julien, it’s a way of getting even more involved in the life of the company.
